Master Cleanse Weight Loss
Although originally created, by alternative medicine practitioner Stanley Burroughs to cure stomach ulcers, the Master Cleanse Program receives a lot of attention as a weight loss strategy.
Is the Master Cleanse Program Safe for Weight Loss?
Yes, the cleanse is considered safe by medical professionals, as a few days of fasting will generally speaking, not do you any harm. It becomes dangerous in the long run because your body becomes depleted of muscle, your heart may suffer, and your liver and kidneys may be damaged.
How to do the Master Cleanse Weight Loss
This cleanse comes in two parts: cleansing your digestive system, and cleansing your colon.
Digestive Cleanse: You do this by drinking 6 to 12 glasses per day, of a lemonade beverage made from freshly squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water.
Colon Cleanse: In the morning before drinking any lemonade, you must consume 2 quarts of salted water. In the evening before bed you must drink a laxative herbal tea.
Do not eat any food, smoke or drink alcohol, coffee, tea or soda pop during this cleanse.
You may experience hunger, fatigue, nausea, aches and pains. These will pass as toxins are cleansed from your body. Also, expect to use the washroom frequently during your cleanse. When your 10 days is up, you transition back to normal eating in stages, so as not to shock your body.
Transitioning Back to Normal Eating
The transition phase of the Master Cleanse Weight Loss plan, gently restores your body back to normal eating. The different phases last a day or two, and the process is different for vegetarians and omnivores.
Vegetarians: drink orange juice for two days; drink orange juice in the morning and eat fruit and vegetables in the afternoon and evening on the third day; return to normal eating on the fourth day.
Omnivores: drink orange juice on the first day; drink orange juice in the morning and vegetable broth in the evening on the second day; drink orange juice in the morning, vegetable broth in afternoon and eat fruit, vegetables and rye crackers in evening on third day; return to normal eating on the fourth day.
